Emily Stanley

I am a trauma-informed Clinical Counsellor and Psychotherapist (registered with PACFA) who provides evidenced-based counselling that aims to be warm, safe and supportive. I am also an experienced clinical supervisor for other therapists and mental health professionals. After 10+ years working in the community sector I opened my private practice- Emily Stanley Counselling- which operates in-person in Paddington and via Telehealth. I work with ages 8 years and over.

In every session I prioritise building a strong relationship where clients feel safe to explore the challenges and issues having the biggest impact on their lives. I have experience working with a diverse range of clients in terms of age, culture, neurodiversity, gender expression, physical abilities, language and presenting issues. I have a particular interest and expertise in working with:

  • Eating issues/disorders and body relationship issues
  • Trauma, including torture and trauma and PTSD
  • Life transitions (especially co-occurring with EDs and trauma)
  • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities- migrant, refugee and asylum seeker, unaccompanied young people
  • Neurodiversity- ADHD and Autism
  • Anxiety
  • Borderline personality disorder
  • Depression
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
